Hartford Public Library (HPL) is undergoing a fundamental shift in focus – we are evolving from an organization that historically curated and collected content created by people outside our community to one that encourages and enables people to create their own content: stories, films, sounds, writing, images, music, art, fashion, design.

 

At HPL Studios are providing resources and spaces for those who would not otherwise have access to state-of-the-art equipment or professionally trained and talented instructors and mentors.  Through this work, HPL is also enabling our community to contribute to collections in a much more direct way, with the opportunity to share with other libraries and organizations across the state, nation and world.  HPL will provide access to resources and content in a way that respects the content creators, connects them to content consumers and assists creators in skill building and designing pathways for them to explore their skills and passion – whether for a livelihood or for personal enjoyment.
